INT/EXT. Inside the Taurus Express – main dining car. - Scene 7

Mrs. Hubbard is a charming but enigmatic passenger aboard the Taurus Express, known for her outspoken nature. As the investigation unfolds, she reveals a deep emotional connection to the case, leading her to spearhead a group pact for avenging Ratchett's victims, showcasing both vulnerability and determination.

MRS. HUBBARD
(standing with fervor)
Ladies and gentlemen! Enough of these veiled words and half-hearted defenses! Let us speak plainly of our purpose here, of the truth that binds us together in this shared odyssey of justice!

PASSENGER 1
(warily)
Justice? For whom? You can't seriously advocate for a pact formed in such darkness!

MRS. HUBBARD
(nods resolutely)
You all know as well as I that André Ratchett was no innocent man! The shadows of his past cast long over his life—a murderer disguised as a victim! Do you not feel the weight of what was done to that poor Armstrong family? Their loss cries out for remedy, for retribution!

PASSENGER 2
(uneasily)
But to take matters into our own hands... is it right?

MRS. HUBBARD
(speaking with passion)
Right or wrong, dear friend, we have seen injustice thrive too long without consequence! Our pact was born from compassion for those whom he wronged. United, we sought not merely to avenge, but to heal the wounds inflicted upon that family—their suffering is etched upon our souls!

M. BOUC
(quietly)
And we would become as guilty as Ratchett himself?

MRS. HUBBARD
(turning fiercely)
We are not the villains here! We are the voices of the silenced! Each of you bore witness to his cruelty; each of you held your breath while secrets festered! Together, we are their salvation! A just resolution arises from our unity!

JASON
(doubtfully)
But how can we trust one another? Where lies our assurance that this shared burden will not become a shared guilt?

MRS. HUBBARD
(with conviction)
Trust lies in our common cause—our shared pain unites us in purpose! If we forsake this opportunity, then we betray those who lost everything at his hand. Will you stand idle while their agony remains unresolved?

PASSENGER 3
(emotionally)What you say moves me, Mrs. Hubbard! We all have felt the grip of fear and anguish that Ratchett's actions caused. Must we remain mere bystanders when we can become the architects of justice?

MRS. HUBBARD
(firmly)
Yes! Stand with me, stand with each other! Let our pact be a beacon for what is right—a stand against the cruelty that has tainted our journey!

PASSENGER 1
(slightly convinced)
But at what cost? Are we willing to face the consequences that might follow?

MRS. HUBBARD
(breathing deeply)
The cost of inaction is far greater! If we do not act now, then we permit evil to persist unchallenged, an evil that devours the innocent without remorse! Do you not see? To confront it together makes us stronger!

PASSENGER 2
(looking around at the others)
Perhaps she speaks true. Alone, we would falter, but united… perhaps we can change the course of this narrative!

JASON
(still hesitating)
And if the law discovers our hand in this? What then for our lives?

MRS. HUBBARD
(her eyes fierce with determination)
Then let it be known that we chose justice over fear! That we stood up for those silenced by despair! Are we not better than the men who walk freely while their hands drip with blood?

M. BOUC
(conflicted)
I sense the tempest within us all—each heart beats to avenge a wrong. But the weight of what may come…

MRS. HUBBARD
(interjecting)
It may be heavy, but together, we shall bear it! We’ve already tasted loss; let us not lose again by failing to act when fate calls upon us. Will you stand with me as avengers of those who have suffered?

PASSENGER 3
(raising a glass)
Then let us join our fates together—if justice is our aim, then let us make this pact and pursue it as one!

ALL PASSENGERS
(in unison, with growing resolve)
To justice!

MRS. HUBBARD
(satisfied and resolute)
To justice indeed! Together, we rewrite this tale—let us be its authors!
